Well, it’s here! My very first album. It only took 4 years, 3 dead cats, and 1 mental breakdown to get here, but we made it! If you’re in the mood for songs about loss, grief, anxiety, and existential dread (and who isn’t?), to Bandcamp (or any other streaming platform) and help yourself to some tunes! Thanks to everyone who supported me and offered words of encouragement. Special thanks to Steve Coleman (@gloombrow) for his beautiful cover art.
For Pannie, Mikey, and Tuna.
The fine folks over at From the Strait have included ‘Head’ on The Rundown this week. As a Canadian artist, it’s super cool to be included on a blog based in Canada. Read the post here, to learn the “backstory/pitch” for ‘Head’.
Nameless Ghost’s newest single, ‘Head’, is now available to buy and stream on all platforms. If the previous single ‘Slow Down’ was too slow for you, then maybe you’ll be pleased to know that ‘Head’ veers towards the opposite end of the tempo spectrum. Of course, as you will soon find out with Nameless Ghost, the up-tempo, lo-fi rock sound of this new offering does not mean the song is a happy one. As is the theme of the forthcoming LP ‘Under the Surface’, ‘Head’ deals with the loss of a loved one and trying to come to grips with being left only with their ever-fleeting memory.
Illustrate Magazine has very kindly featured the lyric video ‘Slow Down’ on their blog. This is the first time I’ve ever been featured on a blog, so it’s pretty exciting! Go check it out here.
The awesome folks over at The Sonic Blender show have kindly added Nameless Ghost’s latest single ‘Slow Down’ to their playlist this week! The show is broadcast locally on 102.7FM in Thunder Bay, ON - but wait! Don’t fret if you aren’t local, because you can stream it live right here from anywhere!
You can catch The Sonic Blender each Thursday from 8-10pm Eastern time, and again each following Monday, from 9-11am Eastern time.
I tried my hand at making a music video for ‘Slow Down’. I wanted to make something that wouldn’t involve making a fool of myself out in public, so I just stuck to my recording space. While editing, I thought it was a bit boring, so I went for a walk around my neighbourhood, sticking mainly to the back alleys, looking for interesting things that caught my eye. I shot footage of those things and added them to the video. It was a fun exercise and made the video a little less boring. Hope you like it!
Recently I had some fun learning video editing software and made a lyric video for ‘Slow Down’. You can check it out on YouTube.
Nameless Ghost’s debut LP, ‘Under the Surface’, is now available to preorder and pre-save. Click on your favourite music service for more info:
Recorded during the frigid Canadian winter, indie-rock artist Nameless Ghost's self-produced debut album "Under the Surface" was born from recent struggles with personal loss and mental health. The first single, Slow Down, reflects on the fragility of life with its mournful melodies and slow, steady drums. Infused with lo-fi elements and a DIY mindset, "Slow Down" sets the tone for the rest of the album and is the first step on a journey through loss, grief, and mental illness.
‘Slow Down’ is now available “wherever you get your music”, as they say. Bandcamp is one of those places if you’d like to check it out.
